Hear the words of Psalm 73, a psalm of Asaph:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n
\n

Truly God is good to\u00a0Israel,<\/em>
\n to those who are\u00a0pure in heart.<\/em>
\n But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled,<\/em>
\n my steps had nearly slipped.<\/em>
\n For I was\u00a0envious of the arrogant<\/em>
\n when I saw the\u00a0prosperity of the wicked.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

For they have no pangs until death;<\/em>
\n their bodies are fat and sleek.<\/em>
\n They are not in trouble as others are;<\/em>
\n they are not\u00a0stricken like the rest of mankind.<\/em>
\n Therefore pride is\u00a0their necklace;<\/em>
\n violence covers them as\u00a0a garment.<\/em>
\n Their\u00a0eyes swell out through fatness;<\/em>
\n their hearts overflow with follies.<\/em>
\n They scoff and\u00a0speak with malice;<\/em>
\n loftily they threaten oppression.<\/em>
\n They set their mouths against the heavens,<\/em>
\n and their tongue struts through the earth.<\/em>
\n Therefore his people turn back to them,<\/em>
\n and find\u00a0no fault in them.<\/em>
\n And they say,\u00a0\u201cHow can God know?<\/em>
\n Is there knowledge in the Most High?\u201d<\/em>
\n Behold, these are the wicked;<\/em>
\n always at ease, they\u00a0increase in riches.<\/em>
\n All in vain have I\u00a0kept my heart clean<\/em>
\n and\u00a0washed my hands in innocence.<\/em>
\n For all the day long I have been\u00a0stricken<\/em>
\n and\u00a0rebuked\u00a0every morning.<\/em>
\n If I had said, \u201cI will speak thus,\u201d<\/em>
\n I would have betrayed\u00a0the generation of your children.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But when I thought how to understand this,<\/em>
\n it seemed to me\u00a0a wearisome task,<\/em>
\n until I went into\u00a0the sanctuary of God;<\/em>
\n then I discerned their\u00a0end.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Truly you set them in\u00a0slippery places;<\/em>
\n you make them fall to ruin.<\/em>
\n How they are destroyed\u00a0in a moment,<\/em>
\n swept away utterly by\u00a0terrors!<\/em>
\n Like\u00a0a dream when one awakes,<\/em>
\n O Lord, when\u00a0you rouse yourself, you despise them as phantoms.<\/em>
\n When my soul was embittered,<\/em>
\n when I was pricked in heart,<\/em>
\n I was\u00a0brutish and ignorant;<\/em>
\n I was like\u00a0a beast toward you.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Nevertheless, I am continually with you;<\/em>
\n you\u00a0hold my right hand.<\/em>
\n You\u00a0guide me with your counsel,<\/em>
\n and afterward you will\u00a0receive me to glory.<\/em>
\n Whom have I in heaven but you?<\/em>
\n And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.<\/em>
\n My flesh and my heart may fail,<\/em>
\n but God is\u00a0the strength\u00a0of my heart and my\u00a0portion\u00a0forever.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

For behold, those who are\u00a0far from you shall perish;<\/em>
\n you put an end to everyone who is\u00a0unfaithful to you.<\/em>
\n But for me it is good to\u00a0be near God;<\/em>
\n I have made the Lord\u00a0God\u00a0my\u00a0refuge,<\/em>
\n that I may\u00a0tell of all your works.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/address>\n<\/div>\n
